
Today Swedish broadcaster SVT revealed the last ten artists of the Melodifestivalen 2021 line up. What we can notice is that there’s a lot of big names that will participate this year. You can feel that Christer Björkman wants to finish his last year in charge strongly, and to be remembered by it.
The Mamas first appearance in Melodifestivalen was in 2019 when they were backup singers for John Lundvik. In 2020 they broke out as an individual group and participated in Melodifestivalen and won with their song “Move”.
Jessica Andersson has a long history in Melodifestivalen. In 2003 she won with Magnus Bäcklund, under the name Fame, Their song “Give Me Your Love” finished in 5th place at Eurovision. The last time she compete was in 2018 with her song “Party Voice”. This will be her 8th attempt of competing and maybe it will be her last to win?
Sannex is known for taking the big stage in the genre called “Dansband” in Sweden. This is their first time competing in Melodifestivalen. Can they challenge the veterans Arvingarna?
Clara is new name for the Swedish audience. This isn’t the first time she has competed in a music competition. In 2014, she tried to qualify with a song she wrote herself, but sadly she didn’t go trough to the qualification week. Her breakthrough was in 2019 with the song “Ensam i en Stad”.
Efraim isn’t a new person for the music scene. In 2016 he did a collaboration with the artist Marc, and took a place on the Billboard Dance Charts, going gold in Sweden the same year. His debut single “You Got Me Wrong” became a huge hit and he performed this on the big festival scenes during summer 2019.
Tusse became a beloved name during 2019 when he appeared in Swedish Idol and won, but he also participated in Sweden’s Got Talent the year before. His latest single after Swedish Idol is “Innan du går” and the first original Swedish song he has sung.
Julia was the first name to be announced to the line up during the radio competition “P4 Nästa”. She won with the song “Dark Room”, but unfortunately can’t she compete with the song because it was public before September 1st.
This is a familiar name in Melodifestivalen. Alvaro has been a backup dancer for Danny Saucedo, Eric Saade and Måns Zelmelöw. He made his first appearance as a solo artist in 2014 with his song “Bedroom”. He made a huge impact in Melodifestivalen last year when he collaborated with Mendez on the song “Vamos Amigos”.
This is Klara’s second time in Melodifestivalen. In 2020 she competed with her song “Nobody”. Her debut single “You Should Know Me Better” became huge hit last winter and topped the Swedish radiolist.
Eric Saade won our heart in 2010 when he sang about manhood as a young man in his song “Manboy”. In 2011, he was the clear winner with “Popular” and made top 3 for Sweden at Eurovision.
Last time he competed was in 2015 with “Sting”. Since then we have been wondering when we will see him again, and all our prayers have been answered in 2021.
