Benidorm Fest 2024 will be record-breaking in more ways than one
The upcoming Eurovision 2024 season is already looking to be an exciting one, with Spain’s Broadcaster RTVE receiving 825 song applications for next year’s well-known National Final Selection ‘Benidorm Fest’. The competition consists of two Semi-Finals followed by a Grand Final, with the winner jointly determined through teams of judges and a public vote. Based on the Benidorm International Song Festival, the competition has been amended to accommodate & compliment the Eurovision format.
Benidorm Fest will be breaking several barriers in 2024; In addition to a record number of song applications being received, all submitted entries have the full-version of their songs ready for the Benidorm Fest stage. Furthermore, a wide variety of talent from all over Spain are enthusiastic to battle it out to represent their country on the biggest stage.
If this news wasn’t promising enough, there has also been an increase in proposals in co-official languages and a variety of musical styles. Benidorm Fest 2024 could therefore be one of the most exciting national finals Spain has ever held for the Eurovision Song Contest.
This has overall been sensational news for RTVE and it seems the best is yet to come, with the rise of Bendorm Fest and the Eurovision Song Contest, it brings new & innovative talent to the Spanish stage. Since the Eurovision Song Contest first began Spain has won the contest only twice, once in 1968 with the song “La La La” sung by Massiel, and again in 1969 when Salomé’s song “Vivo cantando” won in a four way tie.
After a roller coaster of both disappointing and slightly more promising results for Spain in recent years, could 2024 finally be the nation’s year of victory? All will be revealed in the coming months, with the Grand Final of Benidorm Fest scheduled to take place on February 3rd live on RTVE.
