Will Celine Dion make a Eurovision comeback in Switzerland next year?
Since Nemo brought Switzerland their third Eurovision victory this year, many fans have been wondering: will Celine Dion return to Eurovision in 2025? The Canadian superstar secured a second Eurovision win for Switzerland in 1988 with “Ne partez pas sans moi”, and has since gone on to become one of the world’s greatest artists of all time. But will she return to where it all began?
The Executive Producer for Eurovision 2025, Moritz Stadler, has spoken to Lee Barnes and Luis Wyatt from Gaydio for a special episode of the Eurovis-Huns podcast, in which he talks about behind the scenes preparations for next years contest in Basel, as well as the possibility of a Celine comback.
When a Celine Dion comeback was first mentioned, there was a sharp intake of breath and a five second pause from Stadler, before some hints on the possibility of a Celine Dion interval act. However, upon being asked directly about the rumours surrounding a Celine Dion Eurovision comeback in 2025, Stadler did not deny the possibility of securing Celine Dion for a performance:
“We’re building up a great show. And you are right, Celine Dion is a legend! I’m not going to tell you right now. I’m sure you understand, because you guys need to have a bit of suspense between now and next May.”
Alongside a potential Celine Dion comeback being kept as a surprise, Stadler also went on to say that in general, there will be lots of surprises ahead of Eurovision 2025: “There are slots throughout the year where you will discover a lot of amazing things, keeping fans of the contest on their toes for the big reveals leading up to the event in May next year.”
So for the time being, we will have to wait and see what surprises Switzerland has up their sleeve for Eurovision 2025, and whether one of these surprises will include a Celine Dion comeback. The full interview on the podcast can be listened to online or on all major streaming platforms now.
Most recently, we have seen Celine Dion performing at the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in Paris. Stood atop the Eiffel Tower, she wowed everyone with a very powerful and emotional rendition of Edith Piaf’s “L’Hymne à l’Amour”. Since being diagnosed with Stiff Person Syndrome two years ago, this was Celine’s first performance in four years.
