San Marino have announced their act for Junior Eurovision 2024.
It has been comfirmed that girlgroup Idols SM will be representing San Marino at this years Junior Eurovision Song Contest in Spain. The group is made up of: Asia Ceccoli, Giulia Rinaldi, Giorgia Descisolo and Stefania Olkhovskaya.They were revealed as San Marino’s Junior Eurovision representatives during a fundraising event Sogna Ragazzo Sogna.
In keeping with tradition, each of the members of Idols SM were chosen by the broadcaster via an internal selection, as has been the same for all other Sammarinese Junior Eurovision representatives. Sammarinese broadcaster SMRTV were keen on both showcasing and nuturing young local talent in San Marino.
During the fundraising event, two potential songs were performed to everyone – “Poesia” (Poetry) and “Come Noi”, with a jury responsible for chosing the song that Idols SM would sing at Junior Eurovision. “Come Noi” was chosen as the winning song, and will be released at a later date.
San Marino at Junior Eurovision
San Marino participated in Junior Eurovision in 2013, 2014 and 2015, before withdrawing until 2024. Their first representative was Michele Perniola who sang “O-o-O Sole intorno a me” and finished in 10th place. He later went on to represent San Marino in Eurovision 2015 with Anita Simoncini, who was one fifth of The Peppermints who represented San Marino in Junior Eurovision 2014 with “Breaking My Heart”. They finished in 15th place.
San Marino’s last representative before their withdrawal was Russian singer, actress and television presenter Kamilla Ismailova, sang “Mirror”at Junior Eurovision 2015, finishing in 14th place. Despite not being Sammarinese, the young artist had visited the country many times before, and had a big interest in the culture and history of San Marino, so decided to send a recording of her new song to the television station for consideration for Junior Eurovision.
Junior Eurovision 2024: what we know so far
The Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2024 will take place in Madrid, Spain on November 16th, with Caja Mágica as the host venue. A total of 17 countries will be participating, which includes two returning countries. The slogan for this years contest is “Lets Bloom”, which was revealed at the beginning of September. The hosts of the show will be revealed in the coming weeks.

Poland, The Netherlands and Ukraine will all be holding the final of their respective national finals towards the end of September, where we will get a further three singers and songs for this years contest. Italy, who have gone for an internal selection again, will be revealing their representative on September 19th.
