Eurovision 2021 news, features & reactions
Appearing on Irish chat show ‘Ask Me Anything‘ this weekend, Jedward have discussed their long-standing friendship with Ed Sheeran and their ambitions to represent Ireland at Eurovision for a third time!
When asked by the host, if they will work with Ed Sheeran on a Eurovision song for Ireland, John responded:
“We never talk to Ed about the business side of thing…but yes, we will have those chats (about Eurovision) now you brought it up, and cause Eurovision Ireland need that extra ‘hey hey'”
Jedward and Ed have been good friends for many years following an unplanned meeting while they were both working in Canada. Speaking about the musical direction they would take for a Eurovision bid, John responded that it would be more of an acoustic sound and something that would give people goosebumps.
After confirming their participation for Eurovision 2022, Irish broadcaster RTÉ had confirmed that they will bringing back a national final to find the nations next representative. This will be the first time since 2015 that Ireland will use a national final for Eurovision.
As the closing date for submission was October 22nd, it appears that Jedward’s ambitions are geared towards the 2023 contest. Would you be excited to see Jedward back on the Eurovision stage? Let us know in the comments!
