Eurovision 2021 winners Måneskin continue to dominate the music world, recently interviewing with Rolling Stone.
The Italian rockers have known unprecedented success after their historic win in May. The first Italian winners since 1990, Måneskin have stormed the charts, dethroning Olivia Rodrigo’s Good 4 U after two consecutive months at the top of the Spotify global chart with their hit Beggin’.
The feature comes after Måneskin released the highly-anticipated music video for their latest single, I Wanna Be Your Slave. Bassist Victoria De Angelis told writer Brittany Spanos, “[The video] is about sex and how you [express yourself] sexually. The song is about feeling free to be whoever you want and there’s no right or bad things. We wanted to show that in the video.”
Speaking with Rolling Stone, the band discusses their “very weird but cool” ubiquitous presence on social networking app TikTok, recording their third album (anticipated to be released at the end of the year), and their status as role models for fans, particularly those in the LGBTQ+ community. Singer Damiano David explained, “When we were younger, we were not that confident or sure about ourselves, but we had the chance to grow up together and support each other. We want to share our experience with our fans, and we try to encourage people to be who they are. Everyone should have the right and possibility what they want to share or what they want to be without being judged or sent away.”
