First reveal of the French song for Eurovision 2023 in a TV show
During the programme “20H30 Le Dimanche” on France 2, the Quebec singer performed her song for the first time in public.
“Évidemment“, the song she will perform on the Eurovision stage on 13 May, is a rhythmic song about universal love that draws its inspiration from La Zarra’s many influences, starting with the great figures of French song, such as Edith Piaf and Barbara. The song starts off a cappella and then builds to a rhythmic pop performance, embellished by the singer’s smooth voice.
This year France decided to organise an internal selection to choose its representative at Eurovision. Known for her hit song, “Tu t’en iras“, La Zarra is the second Canadian to represent France at Eurovision after Natasha St-Pier (fourth in 2001).
In an interview with the newspaper Le Parisien she spoke of her aspirations and motivation, saying that she was “going there to win”.
Last year, the band Alvan & Ahez represented France but could only manage a 24th place in the ranking.
