Who is Pauline?
Pauline Steinmüller was born on 27 November 2008, and comes from Koblenz in Germany. Along with singing she is also a talented drummer and pianist. In her spare time she enjoys crafts, drawing and spending time with her friends.
How did she get selected?
After making their debut in 2020, even the disapointing result of 12th Place wasn’t going to stop Germany from returning in 2021. German broadcaster KiKa announced plans for a national final, Junior ESC: Wer fährt nach Paris?
After receiving over 100 applications, five were chosen to go on to an online vote. The next phase involved the 5 acts performing a cover song (Pauline chose to sing the 1997 Eurovision winning song Love Shine a Light by Katrina and The Waves) and once again a public vote decided the top 3 to move on to the final stage.
In the first round of the final stage, each of the three finalists performed two of the potential songs which would be sent to Junior Eurovision, and Pauline was selected as the winning act. A final vote was then required to pick the winning song, which was Imagine.

Imagine Us, which was written by Alexander Henke, Torben Brüggemann and Ricardo Muñoz, talks about how bright the future can be if we all work together. It is a poignant message, especially in todays climate. Yes we should all work together to make the world a better place, no matter what our differences are.

Germany at Junior Eurovision
Germany made their debut in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2020, becoming the most recent country to join. In 2020, they were represented by Susan, with her song ‘Stronger With You’, which finished in 12th Place.
