Speaking to Lithuanian broadcaster LRT, the Roop’s lead singer Vaidotas Valiukevičius has said he is confident that he and his band can win Pabandom iš naujo again.
Just one week ago, the line up for Pabandom iš Naujo 2021 was revealed, with 2020 parcipants The Roop among the 23 acts. In an interview with LRT, Vaidotas Valiukevičius talked about all things Eurovision, Pabandom iš naujo and quarantining.
“We decided to participate, because the feeling that this trip is not over is not abandoned. We were elected, delegated, but we could not go out and represent our country... Quarantine didn’t do us much harm as a group – we had a lot of activity. We gave a lot of interviews both in video calls and in writing. Not only for Lithuania, but also for foreign media. We have not given up all these years – although Eurovision has been cancelled, we have said that no one has cancelled our band and our songs. We tried our best to make it heard and worked hard every day.”
After winning Pabandom iš naujo 2020 with “On Fire”, The Roop were all set to represent Lithuania at Eurovision in Rotterdam. After the cancellation of this years Eurovision, the Lithuanian broadcaster decided that Pabandom iš naujo would be coming back for 2021, and that The Roop wouldn’t be automatically chosen for Eurovision again. However, the band was granted an automatic spot in the final of Pabandom iš naujo.
