The first six finalists of Portugal's national final have been revealed
Tonight, the first semi-final of Portugal’s national final Festival da Canção 2025 has taken place, with six out of ten artists qualifying for the final. Tonight’s artists performed in the following running order;
- Xico Gaiato – ‘Ai Senhor’
- Rita Sampaio – ‘Voltas’
- Du Nothin – ‘Sobre Nós’
- Marco Rodrigues – ‘A Minha Casa’
- Margarida Campelo – ‘Eu sei que o amor’
- JOSH – ‘Tristeza’
- Capital da Bulgária – ‘Lisboa’
- Bluay – ‘Ninguém’
- Jéssica Pina – ‘Calafrio’
- Peculiar – ‘Adamastor’
A total of ten songs participated with the first five qualifiers being determined by a 50/50 mix of public and jury votes. Those five were:
– Jessica Pina – ‘Calafrio’
– JOSH – ‘Tristeza’
– Marco Rodriguez – ‘A Minha Casa’
– Bluay – ‘Ninguem’
– Margarida Campelo – ‘Eu Sei Que O Amor’
A further televote only segment then determined a sixth qualifier from the remaining five songs. The public chose Peculiar as their final qualifier with the song ‘Adamastor’.
Festival da Canção’s first semi-final was hosted by José Carlos Malato and Jorge Gabriel. Alexandre Guimarães also helped by guiding the green room and interviewing the acts.
The above six artists will now be preparing themselves for the Grand Final in just a couple of weeks time, but the question is which other artists will be joining them on March 8th? The remaining six finalist spots will be determined in next week’s semi final two, where ten more artists will will take to the stage, the search for Portugal’s next Eurovision entry continues.
At last year’s Eurovision Song Contest in Malmö, Iolanda represented Portugal with her song “Grito”. Iolanda managed to qualify for the Grand Final and once there, she finished in 10th place. She received a total of 152 points, of which 139 points came from the jury and 13 points came the televote.
