Cornelia Jakobs has won 'Melodifestivalen 2022' and will represent Sweden in Turin with her song "Hold Me Closer"!
After 6 weeks of competition, 12 artists took part in tonight’s show, taking place in the Friends Arena, Stockholm. Like all the heats and semi final, the show was hosted by Melodifestivalen veteran Oscar Zia, and he was joined by Farah Abadi.
The results were as follows:
- Cornelia Jakobs – “Hold Me Closer” (146 points)
- Anders Bagge – “Bigger Than The Universe” (121 points)
- Medina – “In i dimman” (109 points)
- LIAMOO – “Bluffin” (91 points)
- Tone Sekelius – “My Way” (84 points)
- Klara Hammarström – “Run To The Hills” (83 points)

- Faith Kakembo – “Freedom” (51 points)
- Robin Bengtsson – “Innocent Love” (34 points)
- Anna Bergendahl – “Higher Power” (29 points)
The results were decided by a 50/50 split of international jury votes and public votes. Cornelia Jakobs won the jury vote while Anders Bagge was the public’s favourite.
With Cornelia’s victory, she becomes the first solo female artist to win Melodifestivalen since 2014 when Sanna Nielsen won with “Undo“
Between 2014 and 2019, Sweden managed to reach the top 10 of Eurovision each year. However, that changed last year when Tusse and his song “Voices” came only 14th. Cornelia will be looking to get Sweden back into the top 10 (or even higher) in May.
