Today’s Eurovision rehearsals opened with a captivating performance from Slovenia’s own Raiven, showcasing her song “Veronika.” Raiven is no stranger to the stage, boasting a diverse skill set as a songwriter, harpist, theatre performer, and mezzo-soprano.
“Veronika” draws inspiration from the intriguing tale of Veronika Deseniška, a Slovenian noblewoman who faced accusations of witchcraft due to her love affair with royalty, ultimately being acquitted. Notably, one of the credited writers on this track is Bojan Cvjetićanin, the lead singer of Slovenia’s entry last year, Joker Out.
Raiven’s staging features her in a striking dark silver bodysuit, commencing her performance on the floor. Her movements interact dynamically with pulsing graphics on the LED floor, creating an ethereal and intensely dramatic ambiance. Accompanied by five contemporary dancers clad in nude bodysuits, the choreography showcases a complex routine of intertwining bodies, reminiscent of the official music video. The performance crescendos with Raiven’s soaring high notes, creating a truly memorable moment that resonates with viewers. Notably, Slovenia’s rehearsal introduced the first pyrotechnic display of the day, with low fog and wind adding an extra layer of drama to Raiven’s captivating performance.@eurovision @raiven is soaring on the rehearsal stage in Malmö Arena 🇸🇮 #Eurovision2024 ♬ original sound – Eurovision
