Today has been a day full of confirmations in Slovenia as the broadcaster, RTV, have announced the dates for all of the EMA 2022 shows, the semi final running order, as well as the hosts for these shows.
When can I watch EMA?
The EMA FREŠ final will be held on January 28th, where four acts will qualify to the semi final stage. The two semi finals will be taking place on February 5th and 12th at 20:00 CET. 10 acts will perform in each semi final, eight established acts, two EMA FREŠ acts.
Six acts from each show will advance to the final that will take place on February 19th at 20:00. Three of the qualifying acts will go through to the final via jury vote, whilst the other three will advance via televote. In the final, the winner will be decided by 50% televote and 50% 5-person member jury vote.
Official 30 second snippets of all the competing songs are expected to be revealed on January 20th and 21st on the official EMA webite.
Who will be on hosting duties?
The EMA FREŠ final will be hosted by Arne Međedović, Eva Boto (Eurovision 2012) and Melani Meikicar. Melani will return to hosting duties for the semi finals and final alongside Slovenian singer, Bojan Cvjetićanin.
"It is an infinite honor for me and Bojan to be entrusted with the management of such a large and important festival as EMA 2022. There’s not a year that I haven’t watched the Eurovision Song Contest, so this is a really special moment for me. This year, I think the EMA is very special, because there will be a lot of young, fresh musicians, but they take the performance very seriously."
EMA and the Eurovision Song Contest have always been one such mini holiday for me, and at a time when we are surrounded by bad news and negative energy prevails, we urgently need a good dose of fun. I hope that viewers will be able to sit in front of TV screens and enjoy music
