Sanremo Giovani is renewing its molds for this year’s edition, and will award two places at the Sanremo 2022 Festival. This event, in turn, no longer has the Nuove Proposte category, being limited to the Campioni.

The Italian broadcaster RAI released this Tuesday the regulations in which it confirms these changes. Sanremo Giovani, whose final will be on December 15, will feature 30 interpreters selected from the free submission of proposals.

Each interpreter will have two songs, and twelve contestants will reach the final: eight chosen by a commission led by Amadeus and four through Area Sanremo.

In the final, there will be up for grabs not only the victory at Sanremo Giovani, but also two places at the Festival de Sanremo 2022 (with different songs for this event).

Last time this happened was in 2018, when “Mahmood” won the competition aimed at young people, before winning the Sanremo 2019 Festival to take Italy to second place in that year’s Eurovision Song Contest.
