Nina Žižić has been chosen to fly the flag for Montenegro at Eurovision 2025

Despite all the recent speculation surrounding Montenegro’s participation, an official decision has now been made that Nina Žižić will represent her country for a second time next May in Basel, Switzerland. The decision was announced today following a meeting that was held between the EBU and the Montenegrin broadcaster RTCG to determine who would replace the Montesong winners Neonoen, or if the country would participate at all.

Back on the November 27th the Montenegrin nation final ‘Monteong’ took place where 16 artists performed, and Neonoen were crowned the winners of the competition scoring a total of 20 points overall. In the days following Montesong, a clip emerged on social media of the band performing their winning song “Clickbait” at a music festival back in 2023. The rules of the Eurovision Song Contest state that songs due to compete at the forthcoming contest cannot be performed any earlier than September 1st.

After a period of uncertainty and the hands of the decision lying with the EBU & RTCG, on December 4th the five-piece rock back made the tough decision to withdraw, releasing the following statement to the public;

“In the best public interest, with the desire to end the uncertainty and once again contribute to the music that we are here for in the first place, we inform you that we are voluntarily withdrawing from participating in Eurovision. RTCG, in accordance with the regulations, will choose another representative, and we will be the first to wish him luck and provide him with full support.

Therefore, it has been revealed that Nina Žižić who came in second place behind Neonoen will be the new representative for Montenegro at Eurovision 2025. She will perform the same song that she sang in the Montesong national final, “Dobrodošli”. This will be the second time the artist has competed at the Eurovision Song Contest, the first time being back in Malmö 2013. Here, she formed part of the Montenegrin hip-hop duo Who See performing their song “Igranka”, coming in 12th place in their semi-final and therfore sadly not advancing to the Grand Final.

Having finished just one point behind NeononeN at Montesong (winning the jury vote in the process), Nina Žižić was invited by RTCG to represent Montenegro on their first participation since 2022. Eurovision fans far & wide will be delighted to see Nina Žižić back on the Eurovision Song Contest stage next May, following an eventful beginning to the 2025 season.
