Natalia Barbu wins tonight's Etapa Națională and will go onto Malmö this May
Moldova’s national final Etapa Națională took place this evening with 11 participants all hoping for glory and the chance to represent Moldova at this year’s Eurovision Song Contest. However, there could only be one winner and this was Natalia Barbu with her song “In The Middle”
The participants performed in the following running order:
- Nicoleta Sava – “Bravo”
- Valeria Pasha – “Anti-Princess”
- Reghina Alexandrina – “Contrasens” (Opposite)
- Viola Julea – “Light Up!”
- O L – “No Time No Space”
- Sasha Letty – “DNA”
- Natalia Barbu – “In the Middle”
- Y-Limit – “REVOLUTION”
- Cătălina – “Fever”
- Victor Gulick – “Fever”
- Iulia Teleucă – “Runaway”
Tonight’s winner was decided through the familiar voting process, with 50% coming from the jury and the remaining 50% coming from the televote. The winner of tonight’s national final, Natalia Barbu will be returning to Eurovision for a second time. The last time she competed for her country was back at Eurovision 2007 with her song “Fight”.
At last year’s Eurovision Song Contest in Liverpool, Moldova was represented by Pasha Parfeni with his song “Soarele și Luna”. Moldova finished in 18th place with a total of 96 points from the jury & televote combined. All will be revealed this May as to whether Natalia Barbu can build on Moldova’s result at this year’s Eurovision Song Contest.
