Eurovision 2025 welcomes a new director - Martin Green
The EBU have confirmed that they have appointed broadcast events leader Martin Green as Director of Eurovision 2025 in Switzerland. Martin previously worked as Executive Supervisor for Eurovision 2023 in Liverpool. He will take on this new role in November.
Alongside his work at Eurovision 2023, Martin also has an impressive track record executive producer of multiple major events over the years. He has also worked as Head of Ceremonies for the ceremonies for the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games in London. After being made a CBE (Commander of the Order of the British Empire) in 2017, he went on to become Chief Creative Officer for the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.
Jean Philip De Tender, Director of Media and Deputy Director-General for the EBU, thinks that Martin Green is the perfect person for this role: “Martin’s experience, strategic thinking and creative energy will be invaluable to the Song Contest as we get set for the 2025 event and evolve into the future. The creation of this senior role and Martin’s appointment reflect how we’re building on the history and the strengths of a unique platform that celebrates the power of music to bring people together.”
Martin himself has also chimed in on his new role, stating that it is a dream come true for him: “The Eurovision Song Contest captures the imaginations of people across generations, countries and cultures. It remains a beacon of joy, artistry and diversity – and a testament to the inclusive power of public service broadcasting. Being asked to lead the event is a dream come true and I look forward to working with everyone involved to take the project and the brand into an exciting future.”
Eurovision 2025 will be taking place in Basel, Switzerland, following on from Nemo’s win at this years contest with their song “The Code”. As of now, a total of 32 countries have publicly confirmed their participation for next years contest. The full complete list of participating countries is expected to be confirmed by the end of the year.
As of now, we only have one confirmed participant, Theo Evan, who was confirmed as Cyprus’ Eurovision 2025 representative at the beginning of September.
