Eurovision winners Måneskin have made their debut on the Australian charts this week with their cover song “Beggin’”.
The 2017 hit has landed the Italian rock group at number 22 on the official ARIA charts, making Måneskin the highest placing Eurovision winning artist on the chart since Måns Zelmerlöw’s “Heroes” peaked at number 19 in 2015.
Måneskin initially rose to fame in Italy on the eleventh season of X Factor Italia, where they performed “Beggin’”, a cover of The Four Seasons’ 1967 track. The song was later released on Måneskin’s debut album Chosen. Much of the popularity of the song can be attributed to its viral success on TikTok, echoing the remarkable ascent of 2019 winner Duncan Laurence’s Arcade on the app in late 2020.
The band has been making waves across the international music scene after their 2021 Eurovision win. Along with Beggin’, their singles I Wanna Be Your Slave and winning song Zitti E Buoni have also found success on both the Billboard Global 200 and the Official UK Singles Chart. Måneskin have been regular fixtures on the Top and Viral Spotify charts across the globe since their win in May, and are currently the 70th most listened to artist on the streaming platform.
