Malta confirm Junior Eurovision 2022 participation

Malta have confirmed their participation for the upcoming Junior Eurovision Song Contest.

Maltese broadcaster PBS has announced that Malta will be participating in this years Junior Eurovision Song Contst in Armenia, and that submissions have already opened.

  • All interested singers must submit an original song, including a full playback version, with and without vocals
  • All songs must not have been performed or released before May 1st, 2022
  • Songs must be between 2 minutes 30 seconds and 3 minutes
  • Songs can be submitted in either English or Maltese

The full set of rules, and application form, can be found here. All submissions must be sent to, with proof of payment as there is a 50 euro participation fee.

Submissions will remain open until August 15th, 2022. Once the deadline has closed, a professional jury will listen to every submission and select 16 finalists who will advance to the final phase of the selection process.

The final of Malta’s selection process for Junior Eurovision 2022 is expected to take place on Sunday October 2nd. The winner will be decided by 75% expert jury vote and 25% televote.

Malta’s confirmation of participation in Junior Eurovision 2022 brings the total number of participating countries to 11. They will join these 10 other countries in Yerevan this December:

  • Armenia (host country)
  • Bulgaria
  • France
  • Georgia
  • Ireland
  • North Macedonia
  • Poland
  • Portugal
  • Spain
  • The Netherlands

Junior Eurovision 2021 participating countries Germany; Italy; Kazakhstan; Albania; Ukraine; Azerbaijan and Serbia have yet to confirm their participation in this years contest. Russia will not be participating due to their broadcasters being banned from the EBU.
