Luxembourg Song Contest returns for a second year in 2025

The Luxembourg Song Contest will be returning to screens in 2025 for its second edition.

It has been confirmed that the second edition of the Luxembourg Song Contest will be taking place on January 25th at the Rockhal, a concert hall in Beval, a neighbourhood in the city of Esch-sur-Alzette in Southern Luxembourg. This is the same venue that hosted this years edition of the Luxembourg Song Contest.

With a new edition of the contest comes a new logo, marking a fresh and exciting chapter in the contest’s short history. The vibrant colours and modern design reflect the Luxembourg Song Contest’s committment to celebrating musical talent and cultural diversity.

Further details about the format of the contest, the voting rules, and the hosts of the contest will all be revealed in due course.

Rules and regulations:

All candidates must:

  • Be at least 16 years old on January 1st, 2025.
  • Have Luxembourg nationality, lived in Luxembourg for three consecutive years, or be anchored in the Luxembourg cultural scene. (If competing as a band/group, at least one member must meet this criteria.)
  • Be able to sing live on stage
  • Be available between November 2024 and May 2025

Each candidate can submit up to five songs in any language. The songs cannot exceed three minutes, and cannot have been released or performed prior to September 1st, 2024, as per the Eurovision rules. The submissions window closed on Sunday 6th October. You can register to participate here.

A successful return for The Grand Duchy

Luxembourg made a triumphant return to the Eurovision Song Contest this year after a 31 year absence. The country went all in with a national final that proved to be a hit with fans across Europe, which saw Eurovision 1984 host Désirée Nosbusch returning to hosting duties for her country.

A total of eight acts took to the stage with the hopes of becoming Luxembourg’s Eurovision 2024 representative. But it was 23 year old Tali Golergant was crowned the winner of the Luxembourg Song Contest with the song “Fighter”. At the contest in Malmö, Luxembourg comfortably qualified to the final with a top 5 result in the semi final. In the grand final, Tali achieved 13th place and 103 points for Luxembourg, their first left side finish since 1988.
