Michael Ben David has released the revamped version of his Eurovision 2022 entry “I.M” which will represent Israel at the contest in Turin.
While lyrically the song hasn’t changed much, the revamp adds new instrumental elements that make the song have an increased ethnic sound.
Michael Ben David earned the right to represent Israel after winning their version of the X Factor in early February. The Israeli media had reported later that month that Michael might withdraw from Eurovision due to “dissatisfaction with professional conduct”. However, Israeli broadcaster KAN has since denied these rumours.
Israel have qualified for the final of Eurovision every year since 2015, a run of results which included a victory in 2018 with Netta and her ‘clucking’ good song “Toy“. Last year, Eden Alene and her song “Set Me Free” (which was also revamped pre-contest) reached 17th place.
