We better make sure the arena in Turin has enough room for a party as LUM!X and Pia Maria have released their electro-pop song “Halo” which will represent Austria at Eurovision 2022.

Who are LUM!X and Pia Maria?
LUM!X is a 20 year old DJ from Rohrbach-Berg, Austria who is also half Italian. In 2019, he released his biggest hit alongside fellow DJ Gabry Ponte in “Monster“. The song was LUM!X’s first song to chart and has already been certified 4x platinum and 7x gold.
Last year, LUM!X teamed up with Gabry Ponte again to produce “Thunder” alongside Italian dance group Prezioso. The song became the Austrian’s first top 10 hit, charting as high as 4th in Belgium (Flanders).
Pia Maria is an 18-year-old singer from Tyrol, Austria who works as a make-up artist. She has been writing songs since she was 16, but Eurovision will be her first big gig with “Halo” being her first major single.
Austria at Eurovision
Austria debuted at Eurovision in 1957, when Bob Martin performed “Wohin, kleines Pony?” and sadly came last. Over the course of their 53 appearances, Austria have infamously earned the honour of receiving nul points 4 times (1962, 1988, 1991 and 2015), more than any other country.
Austria have also managed to win the contest twice. Their most recent victory came in 2014 when the iconic Conchita Wurst took home the crown with their song “Rise Like A Phoenix“.
In 2018, Austria managed to reach 3rd place with Cesár Sampson and his song “Nobody But You“, winning the jury vote in the process. However since then, Austria has failed to make it back to the final. They came close last as Vincent Bueno with “Amen” finished 12th in the semi final.
