Further details have been revealed about the staging for "Veronika" at this years Eurovision Song Contest.
Slovenian broadcaster RTVSLO have revaled further details about the staging plans for Raiven’s performance of “Veronika” at Eurovision 2024. Raiven herself has also revealed more details about the staging for “Veronika”, and the story behind it. She says that the performance “will be based on organicity and movement, which is natural to me. During the performance itself, we very strongly started from what we had already seen in the video. The femininity, darkness and mystery that can be felt in the video will certainly remain.”
Raiven goes on to say that she would like to convey Veronika’s story to the Eurovision audience, and to teach them to not judge a book by it’s cover: “Don’t judge a book by its cover. I relate to Veronika’s story a lot myself, because I myself have been misunderstood many times, just like Veronika was. I think her story is also often misunderstood in the sense that everyone talks about, that it’s a story about a witch, but basically it was a story about a woman who was accused of something she didn’t do, but only because she was very authentic.”
The performance of “Veronika” will be choreographed by Lukas Zuschlag. She will be joined by five dancers on stage, (Lukas Bareman, Marin Ino, Filippo Jorio, Matteo Moretto and Mateja Želenik), all of whom are from the Opera House SNG Opera and Ballet in Ljubljana. For her Eurovision outfit to accompany this staging, she will be working with fashion designer AEMONA.
Raiven will represent Slovenia at Eurovision 2024 with “Veronika” in semi final one on Tuesday 7th May in Malmö, performing in 9th place.
