Creative Director for Austrian broadcaster ORF, Eberhard Forcher, has revealed in an interview with Merci, Chérie – Der Eurovision Podcast, that there are just four acts remaining in the running to be Austria’s representative at Eurovision 2022 in Turin.

In the Podcast, Eberhard mentions that a lot of Austrian acts had been approached to submit an entry to the broadcaster, with 20 acts eventually submitting a demo. Out of these 20 acts, there are just four remaining, with Eberhard revealing that three of these acts are established live acts, whilst the fourth act has a lot of success on Spotify.

The Austrian broadcaster is expected to make a final decision on their participant for Eurovision 2022 in December. It is expected that the artist will be revealed in December, with their song and music video being revealed at a later date.

Austria made their Eurovision debut in 1957, and have participated almost every year since. In Eurovision 2020 and 2021, Vincent Bueno was internally selected by the broadcaster. Vincent sang “Amen” in the second semi final of Eurovision 2021 in Rotterdam, finishing in 12th place with 66 points.
