Former Eurovision stars among finalists for MESC 2025

First eight finalists for MESC 2025 revealed.

Malta began the search for their Eurovision 2025 representative tonight with semi final one of MESC. The show was hosted by Valentina Rossi, Davide Tucci and Pauline Agius live from the Malta Fairs and Conventions Centre in Ta’ Qali. The second semi final of MESC 2025 will take place on Thursday 6th February, where a further 12 acts will be competing for the final eight places in the final.

A total of 12 acts were competing in tonight’s semi final, with eight advancing to the final. The results were determined by 50% jury vote and 50% televote.

  2. Dre’ Curmi – “Te Amo”
  3. Raquela – “Silenced” – QUALIFIED
  4. Kristy Spiteri – “Heaven Sent” – QUALIFIED
  5. Matthew Cilia – “Control”
  6. Marie Claire – “Wildflower”
  7. Justine Shorfid – “Still I Rise” – QUALIFIED
  8. JVF – “Festa (No Time for Siesta)” – QUALIFIED
  9. Adria Twins – “Qalb ma’ Qalb” – QUALIFIED
  10. Haley – “Whistleblower”
  11. Victoria Sciberras – “Juno” – QUALIFIED
  12. Kurt Calleja – “Aziz/a” – QUALIFIED

Among the qualifiers, we see former Eurovision representatives Kurt Calleja (Malta 2012); Fabrizio Faniello (Malta 2001 & 2006) and Jessika Muscat (San Marino 2018 with Jennifer Brening.)

We also saw former and current Eurovision stars performing as part of the interval act. ADONXS, who will be representing Czechia at Eurovision this year treated us all to an acoustic version of his Eurovision entry “Kiss Kiss Goodbye”. We also saw Romania’s Eurovision 2006 representative Mihai Trăistariu performing his Selecția Națională 2019 entry “Baya” and his Eurovision 2006 hit “Tornerò.”

Sarah Bonnici won MESC 2024 with her song “Loop”, which she took to Eurovision 2024 in Malmö. She finished in 16th place with 13 points in semi final 2.
