Good news for American fans! For the fourth consecutive year, American streaming platform Peacock will once again stream the Eurovision Song Contest with no commentator. For the 2022 and 2023 contests, former figure skater Johnny Weir was the commentator but will be absent for this year’s contest. Weir has a history of commentating for NBC’s Olympic coverage alongside fellow figure skater Tara Lipinski.

Viewers can catch the semi-finals beginning 7 May and 9 May at 3pm Eastern Daylight/New York time. The Grand Final will be broadcast at the same time on Saturday, 11 May on Peacock. NBC’s Peacock has streamed the Eurovision Song Contest since 2021. From 2016 to 2019, only the Grand Finals were broadcast on the cable channel Logo.

The Eurovision Song Contest has been gaining popularity stateside. In 2022 NBC previously held the American Song Contest which was inspired by Eurovision with K-pop star Alexa winning for the state of Oklahoma. It has not been said if the ASC will return as of this writing.

And, for the first time ever in 2023, Americans were able to vote in the Rest of the World vote through the Eurovision website and app. They will be able to do so again for the 2024 contest.

  1. Johnny Wier was awful so we watch with a VPN from Great Britain. But it sure would be easier to just turn on Peacock. What do they mean by ‘no commentator’? What will they fill those spots with? Or will they just stream from an English speaking country?
