September 11, 2023

The core team for Eurovision 2024 is now complete.

Earlier this year, SVT revealed the executive team in charge of organizing Eurovision 2024: Ebba Adielsson, Christel Tholse Willers, Tobias Åberg and Johan Bernhagen, with David Wessén as Head of Production; Mats Lindgren as Head of Legal; Madeleine Sinding-Larsen as Head of Media; and Linnea Lopez as Executive Assistant.

Today, the rest of the core team responsible for organising Eurovision 2024 in Malmö have been revealed, including a very familiar face. Christer Björkman returns as Contest Producer whilst Per Blankens will serve as Television Producer. Both Christer and Per couldn’t be happier in their new roles:

"Eurovision’s values are more important than ever, where diversity and community are the foundation. Therefore, I am extremely proud to once again be one of the producers for this event - it was impossible to say no."

"I remember my years at Melodifestivalen as fantastic, but to be able to participate in the big Eurovision Song Contest party in this way is a dream come true. To be able to work so closely with Eurovision’s television elite will be an incredible adventure!"

Per Blankens has extensive experience working on Melodifestivalen, alongside Christer, who, as well as Melodifestivalen, has extensive experience working on Eurovision.

Per Blankens has worked on many major television shows, both inside and outside of Sweden, some of which include:  Melodifestivalen, Idol, American Idol, The Next, (a Chinese music variety show); c/o Segemyhr and Grattis världen, among others.

For Eurovision 2024, Per will be responsible for the execution and content of the two semi finals and the grand final (with the exception of the competition elements.) This will be Per’s first time working on the Eurovision Song Contest.

Christer Björkman needs no introduction as many fans will remember him as Producer of Melodifestivalen between 2002 and 2021, and as Show Producer of Eurovision 2013 and 2016 in Malmö and Stockholm respectively, and Head of Delegation for Sweden. He also served as one of the producers for the American Song Contest in 2022.

Aside from Melodifestivalen and Eurovision, Christer is an accomplished singer and performer, who’s career began in 1985. In 1992, he won Melodifestivalen and went on to represent Sweden in Eurovision with “I morgon är en annan dag.” He finished in 22nd place with 9 points.
