The Estonian broadcaster have revealed that the semi finals of Eesti Laul 2022 will go ahead without an audience, due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

The organisers of Eesti Laul 2022, and Saku Grand Hall, where the shows will take place, both announced their decision to go ahead without an audience, after previously stating that there would be an audience. The semi finals therefore will only be available to watch on television (ETV), online (ERR.ee portal) or via Radio (Raadio 2)

Anyone with a ticket for the semi finals has the option to either receive a full refund, or to purchase a ticket for the Eesti Laul final, (the dress rehearsal or the live show) at a discounted price.

Estonia joins other European nations in deciding to not have an audience for their Eurovision national final due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Norway has also made the decision to have no audience for their Melodi Grand Prix semi finals or second chance round, but an audience is expected for the final.

The semi finals of Eesti Laul 2022 will be taking place on February 3rd and 5th. After the quarter finals that took place in December 2021, the five acts that qualfiied from each show will participate in the semi finals.

Ten acts will be participating in each semi final, which will be hosted by Maarja-Liis Ilus (Eurovision 1996) and Estonian actor, Priit Loog. Five acts from each semi final will advance to the final.
