The first semi-final of Eesti Laul, the Estonian selection for Eurovision 2022 was held in the Saaku Suurhall in Tallinn tonight. The show was hosted by singer Maarja-Liis Ilus and actor Priit Loog. The show was held without an audience to prevent the spread of COVID-19. A final will be welcomed at the final on Saturday 12 February.
5 songs qualified to the final, 4 of which were decided by a 50/50 jury and televoting result, with the remaining one by 100% televoting. Elysa and Merilin Mälk participated though a music video, as both of them were ill.

Estonia in the Eurovision Song Contest
Estonia has made 26 appearances at the Eurovision Song Contest since making its debut in 1994. Estonia intended to debut in the 1993 contest, however, they failed to make it to the final. In 2001 Tanel Padar, Dave Benton and 2XL won the contest with the song Everybody, which brought the contest to Tallin in 2002, where Estonia ended 3rd.
