Save the date! Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2022 will take place on March 5th

After confirming their participation for Eurovision 2022 at the beginning of July, Danish broadcaster DR have now announced that the 2022 edition of Dansk Melodi Grand Prix will take place on March 5th. At the present time, it is unknown which city and venue will host the show.

Alongside this announcement, the broadcaster has also confirmed that the submissions window for Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2022 has opened up, and will remain open until October 29th, 2021. Songs can be submitted here. Once the deadline is over, a professional jury appointed by DR will listen to all of the songs and select eight to advance to the live final.

  • The composer, lyricist or singer of each submission must be a Danish citizen, or must have a strong connection to Denmark, either through residency, marriage or something similar. Danes residing in The Faroe Islands and Greenland are also eligable to participate.
  • Each song cannot be any longer than three minutes, and must not have been performed or published in any way before September 1st, 2021.
  • Composers, lyricists and singers are allowed to submit multiple entries.
  • All songs can be sung in any language, but must not contain lyrics of a political nature, include swear words or other unacceptable language.

Dansk Melodi Grand Prix is one of Europe’s longest running Eurovision national finals, having been broadcast since 1957. The show has gone on to produce three Eurovision winners, including 16 top 5 placings. Fry og Flamme were the winners of the 2021 edition with their song “Øve os på hinanden”, which became the first Danish Eurovision entry completley in the Danish language since 1997.
