Czechia's Eurovision 2024 entry will be decided once again through well-known national final ESCZ
The next country to confirm their participation for next year’s Eurovision Song Contest next May in Malmö is Czechia. The Czech national broadcaster Česká televize recently revealed via their website that they will be returning to Eurovision 2024 with their well-known national final selection process ESCZ, to determine to their entry for Malmö.
Although Czechia’s national selection format will remain the same, a new twist to this year’s edition of ESCZ has raised the eyebrows of many Eurovision fans. It has been revealed that the lead singer / main vocalist of the composition is not required to hold Czech citizenship.
Česká televize has in particularly highlighted this via their website; that artists from Slovakia permanently living in the Czech Republic and contributing to its music scene can also apply to perform at ESCZ. This may potentially open up the opportunity for a more diverse selection of musical styles and genre varieties to be introduced to the next edition of ESCZ.
Musicians and singer-song writers who permanently live in Czech Republic will now be eager to begin submitting their entries, including demo versions, from October 16th up until the closing date November 6th. In the coming weeks and months, all will be revealed who will be performing at ESCZ 2024 to be in the running to represent Czechia at Eurovision 2024.
At the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 in Liverpool, Czechia was well represented by Vesna with their empowering & captivating performance of their song “My Sister’s Crown”. Vesna ended up finishing in a satisfying 10th Place, with 129 points overall.
