Czech Republic will reveal ESC finalists on December 6th!

November 20, 2021

The weather outside is becoming frightful but the Eurovision news is getting delightful! As we reach the final months of 2021, the excitement for Eurovision 2022 is growing. With the Czech Republic announcing the finalists for their national round in less than a month, it is safe to say we can start speculating who will represent the Czech Republic in Turin next year.

When will the Czech Republic reveal the finalists?

Czech Television stated they have received over 150 songs form various artists around the world when they closed the submission window on September 30th. From these submitted songs, they will chose their finalists who will be revealed on December 6th.

From then on the Czech Eurovision fans will be able to vote for their favorite song from December 7th to December 15th. On December 16th the big winner will be announced, making it the first confirmed song heading for that Eurovision 2022 stage in Turin!

How can people vote?

The process of voting for the big winner will be based on a live recording of all the competing songs. These songs will be recorded at the Czech Television studio in Prague. Who will be the winner is decided by a combination of votes from the international jury (50%), international viewers (25%) and the Czech viewers (25%).

Calling in the big guns

Just about a month ago, the Czech Eurovision team teased us a little bit…. They revealed they are really calling in the big guns for this years national final. We were told two true legends would be added to their internal jury, I am so excited! They stated:

“This year, the in-house team responsible for selecting these performers was strengthened by one American composer and European producer / performer. Their identity will be revealed after the selection of the finalists of the national round, so that these jurors cannot be influenced in any way during the selection.”

The return of Mikolas Josef?

We know that the most successful entry for the Czech Republic, Mikolas Josef, has decided to enter the national selection again this year. Though we do not know if he has been proceeded through the next round, I for one am excited to seeing him do the floss dance on the Eurovision 2022 stage in Turin.

Would you like to see Mikolas back at the Eurovision stage? Or do you have someone in else in mind as the Czech representative next year? Let us know in the comments below!
