Cyprus look set to chose their Eurovision 2024 act through a national selection show.
The General Director of the Cypriot Broadcaster, Thanis Tzokos, has confirmed, on the show Beautiful Day Every Day, that Cyprus’ Eurovision 2024 representative will be chosen by a national selection type show, with the television audience deciding the final results.
Speaking on the show Alpha Greece, Antonis Karatzikos, former president of OGAE Greece, revealed that the company Barking Well Media has undertaken the production of Fame Story, which is rumoured to be Cyprus’ national selection show for Eurovision 2024.
PANIK Records and the Cypriot Broadcaster CyBC have reportedly come to an agreement to have Fame Story as Cyprus’ national final for Eurovision 2024. Further details are expected in the coming months.
Cyprus’ most recent Eurovision representative is Australian-born Andrew Lambrou, who took Cyprus to 12th place in the final with his song “Break A Broken Heart”.
Fame Story will mark the first Eurovision national final for Cyprus since 2015. Every year since then, the country has opted for internal selections, which brought them the most success in 2018, when Eleni Foureira finished in second place with 436 points, achieving Cyprus’ best ever Eurovision result.
