The Netherlands has revealed its next Eurovision artist! Claude, a rising star with a remarkable journey, will represent the Dutch at the 69th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest in Basel this May.

From Congo to the Netherlands: A Story of Music and Connection

Born in Congo, Claude moved to the Netherlands at the age of 13. It was soon after this life-changing move that he and his family discovered the Eurovision Song Contest, cheering together as Conchita Wurst triumphed for Austria in 2014. This moment sparked a family tradition, and for Claude, a lifelong connection to Eurovision was born.

Music quickly became a cornerstone of Claude’s identity. With his distinctive voice and talent, he captured the attention of the Dutch music scene, breaking through in 2022 with his debut single “Ladada (Mon Dernier Mot)”, which has amassed over 57 million streams. Since then, Claude has been unstoppable, winning accolades like the 3FM Award for Best Newcomer and being crowned Qmusic’s Best Artist of the Year.

A Musical Journey to Eurovision

Claude’s selection as the Netherlands’ Eurovision representative followed a rigorous process conducted by AVROTROS, with a selection committee reviewing 331 song submissions. The committee, comprising prominent figures like Cornald Maas and Jacqueline Govaert, described the chosen song as “meaningful, connecting, and hit-sensitive, with international appeal.” The song will be revealed at a later date, but fans are already eagerly anticipating what Claude will bring to the stage.

In his own words, Claude expressed his excitement:

“I feel extremely honoured that I will represent the Netherlands at the Eurovision Song Contest next year and I still can’t believe it. I’m really looking forward to it and can’t wait to present my song to Europe.”

Chart-Topping Success and International Recognition

Claude’s journey in music has been marked by international success. His English-French version of “Ladada” has charted in over 15 countries, including a Top 10 spot in Italy. His follow-up hit “Layla” has further solidified his global allure, while his debut album “Parler Français” has showcased his ability to connect across languages and cultures.

Beyond his chart success, Claude’s accomplishments include serving as an Ambassador of Freedom in 2024, a role he found deeply meaningful due to his own journey as an immigrant. His sold-out tours in the Netherlands and Belgium, combined with performances at major festivals like Pinkpop, underscore his boundless performance energy and growing influence on the international stage.

A Promising Future at Eurovision and Beyond

As Claude prepares for Eurovision, fans are already speculating about his upcoming song and stage performance. With his unique voice, dynamic energy, and heartfelt story, he promises to be a standout in the competition.

Claude will also be performing at the legendary Pinkpop Festival in 2025, further cementing his reputation as one of the most exciting new talents to emerge from the Netherlands.
