Christmas with you! Stig Rästa releases festive single “Jõulud sinuga”

Eesti Laul veteran and Estonian music legend Stig Rästa has released a heartwarmingly wholesome festive song, Jõulud sinuga which translates into English to Christmas with you. The official music video to Jõulud sinuga is currently a photo of a loved-up couple in the middle of a snow storm, with the beautiful lyrics of the song surrounding them, but we sure hope to see a live action music video soon!

2020 is the first year since 2013 that Stig hasn’t been a writer or performer in Estonian Eurovision selection contest, Eesti Laul.

Who is Stig Rästa?

Stig Rästa is an Estonian singer, songwriter and producer from Estonia’s capital city, Tallinn. From 2003 to 2006 he formed band Slobodan River with Ithaka Maria and Tomi Rahula, who is now the head of delegation for Estonia in the Eurovision Song Contest and chief producer of Eesti Laul. Slobodan River competed in Eesti Laul 2004 with Surrounded and placed 3rd in the final.

Since 2006, he has been a member of the band Traffic, who have competed in Eesti Laul three times in total. Their debut at the contest was in 2009 with See päev which placed 2nd, their second appearance was in 2014 with Für Elise which placed 3rd, and their third appearance in 2020 was with Üks kord veel which placed 5th.

From 2010 he’s played in Estonian band Outloudz, who competed in Eesti Laul in 2011 with I Wanna Meet Bob Dylan, placing 2nd.

In 2015 he competed in Eesti Laul alongside fellow singer Elina Born with Goodbye To Yesterday and won the ticket to Vienna to represent Estonia at the Eurovision Song Contest, where they placed 7th in the final.

At Eesti Laul 2018 he competed for the first time as a soloist with ballad Home, placing 2nd.

Alongside competing in Eesti Laul as an artist, he’s one of the most accredited songwriters in Estonia. He has been listed as a writer on many popular Eesti Laul entries such as Elina Born’s 2013 and 2017 entries Enough and In Or Out, Jüri Pootsmann’s 2016 winning entry Play that made it to Eurovision, and also in 2019 with Storm, performed by Swedish singer Victor Crone, which won Eesti Laul and placed 21st in the Eurovision Song Contest final.
