Junior Eurovision is coming to Madrid on November 16th, 2024!

In a press conference held earlier today by RTVE, it has been confirmed that Madrid has won the Junior Eurovision 2024 host city bidding, and that they will be hosting the contest on Saturday 16th November at Caja Mágica. This marks the first time since 2015 that the contest will be taking place on a Saturday. Since 2016, it has always taken place on Sunday afternoon.

Due to Junior Eurovision 2023 winners France declining to host this years contest, runners-up Spain was soon confirmed as the official host country of Junior Eurovision 2024. Despite winning the contest back in 2004, this will be the first time that Spain will be hosting Junior Eurovision, and the first time that they will host a Eurovision related contest since 1969.

Junior Eurovision 2024 will be a celebration of Spain’s first and only victory in the contest, when nine year old María Isabel proved to be the runaway winner with “Antes Muerta Que Sencilla”.

Martin Österdahl, Executive Supervisor of the Eurovision Song Contest and Junior Eurovision, is very excited to be welcoming everyone to Spain for a Eurovision-related event for the first time in 55 years: “We’re very excited to be heading to Madrid 55 years after the Spanish capital hosted its last Eurovision event. We are looking forward to seeing RTVE’s exciting ideas to make this wonderful venue come alive, and to welcoming young artists from across Europe to Caja Mágica in November.”
