After Turin officially put in a bid to host Eurovision 2022 at the end of June, Bologna and Pesaro are the latest Italian cities to also confirm their bid. Matteo Ricci, mayor of Pesaro confirmed on social media that his city would be officially bidding to host next years contest.
If Pesaro were to win the right to host next years contest, they would do so at the Vitfrigo Arena (The Palas), which has a capcacity of up to 13,000 people. The city boasts an international airport within 90 minutes of the centre, over 2,000 hotel rooms in close vacinity to the venue and good infastructure.
Bologna have also officially submitted their bid to RAI to host Eurovision 2022 with Unipol Arena as their venue of choice. Their bid has the support of the city’s mayor, Virginio Merola, and Stefano Bonaccini, the President of Bologna’s region, Emilia-Romagna.
The Unipol Arena, which is located in Casalecchio di Reno, 12km from Bologna, has a capacity of up to 20,000 people for concerts. Bologna itself has an international airport within one hour of the city centre and boasts over 12,000 hotel rooms in close vacinity with the venue.
