North Macedonia have begun the search for their Junior Eurovision 2024 representative.
After confirming their Junior Eurovision 2024 participation at the beginning of June, the broadcaster put out an open call for singers. Auditions have been taking place today at MRT Studios in Skopje for the upcoming contest.
The open call was open to all citizens or regular residents of North Macedonia who are between the ages of 9 and 14. All auditionees were required to sing two songs of their own choice with a backing track.
A jury panel will decide which act/s will have the honour of representing North Macedonia at Junior Eurovision 2024. The song that they will take to the contest will be writen and composed internally at a later date.
North Macedonia made their Junior Eurovision debut in 2003, and have participated in (almost) every contest since (excluding 2012, 2014 and 2020). Their most recent participation was in 2023 with Tamara Grujeska and her song “Kaži mi, kaži mi koj”, which earned North Macedonia their ninth 12th place finish in the contest.
Junior Eurovision 2024 will be taking place in Madrid, Spain at Caja Mágica on November 16th. Despite winning the contest once already in 2004, this will be the first time that Spain will host Junior Eurovision, and will be the first time the country is hosting any Eurovision-related event since 1969. The final will be taking place on a Saturday for the first time since 2015.
At the present time, 11 countries have confirmed their participation in this years contest – Estonia, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Malta, North Macedonia, Poland, Spain, The Netherlands and Ukraine. The remaining five countries from last years contest have yet to make any confirmation on participation or not – Albania, Armenia, Georgia, Portugal and the United Kingdom.
