Andria Putkaradze from Georgia has won The Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2024!
Tonight we saw the 22nd Junior Eurovision Song Contest live from Madrid Spain, with 17 countries across Europe participating. Despite winning the contest once before in 2004, this is the first time that Spain has hosted the contest.
The contest was hosted by Ruth Lorenzo (Spain Eurovision 2014); Marc Clotet and Melani (Junior Eurovision 2019) at Caja Mágica in Spain’s capital, Madrid.
The show saw former Junior Eurovision participants María Isabel (Junior Eurovision 2004 winner); Sandra Valero (Junior Eurovision 2023) and Zoé Clauzure (Junior Eurovision 2023 winner) performing part of the common song, Let’s Bloom, alongside the Junior Eurovision 2024 artists. The interval act saw one of the biggest stars in Spain, Abraham Mateo, performing a cover version of 80s’ hit song “Maniac” by Michael Sembello.
RTVE trialed a new style of presenting the votes from juries and online voters. All of points from 1-10 were added onto the screen for each country, one by one, and then the spokespersons from each country revealed the 12 points. Georgia won the jury vote and Portugal won the online vote.
This marks the fourth time that Georgia has won Junior Eurovision, having previously won in 2008, 2011 and 2016. Georgia has also previously hosted Junior Eurovision once in 2017, when the contest came to the capital city, Tbilisi.
