“His nose and throat are blocked, he can hardly speak.” Lead singer of Let 3, Zoran Prodanović (Prlja) has fallen ill just one day after his performance in semi final 1.

The groups bassist, Damir Martinović (Mrle) has confirmed in HTV show Kod nas doma that Zoran fell ill a day after their Eurovision 2023 semi final 1 performance.

Damir Martinović has stated: “Prlja got a little sick, maybe that was noticed in the performance last night…”Namely, we have been in those spaces for days where we have rehearsals and performances that are constantly under air conditioning and ventilation, and when a person stays there for 10, 12 hours, then it is a little bit problematic because it affects some people’s throats. And when it affects the singers throats, then it’s not good…

Damir goes on to say: …That caught him last night, you could feel it in that vocal. I don’t know how much the audience felt it, but this morning, he woke up sick, his nose and throat are blocked, he can hardly speak. So now he is lying in bed and lets hope to recover in two days.”

Tomislav Štengl, head of Eurovision for Croatian broadcaster HRT has also weighed in on this, and remains confident that Zoran will recover by Friday for the dress rehearsal.

“Everyone had a bit of a cold, while with Prlja, it might have gone a little further. But I think everything will be fine for Friday and Saturday.”

Let 3 performed “Mama ŠČ” in semi final 1 on Tuesday 9th May and brought Croatia back to the Eurovision final for the first time since 2017, after being announced as one of the 10 qualifiers.

Croatia will perform in the second half of the grand final on Saturday 13th May. Their exact singing position will be decided by producers after we have our second semi final qualifiers tonight.

We wish Zoran Prodanović a speedy recovery for Friday and Saturday night!
