Wales will not be participating in Junior Eurovision. After two participations, in 2018 and 2019, Wales had suspended its participation in 2020 due to the pandemic. After a successful 2020 edition which saw France win, hopes were high for Wales to participate again. Despite a reinforced health protocol and the absence of contagions linked to the 2020 edition, precaution prevails for the Welsh.

In a Twitter post, Welsh broadcaster S4C made public its decision. The decision seems linked to the pandemic, and the health and safety of everyone, even if no clear justification has been made.

Wales made their debut in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2018 when Manw sang “Perta”. In 2019, the country competed again, represented by Erin Mai with her song “Calon yn Curo“, finishing in penultimate place with 35 points.
