United Kingdom’s 1991 participant Samantha Womack has revealed she has been diagnosed with breast cancer.
The singer/actress revealed on Twitter that she has begun her very own battle with breast cancer. The news comes just days after the United Kingdom’s 1974 participant Olivia Newton-John passed away from the very same illness.
Samantha shared a photo of her meeting the Grease star with her daughter Lily Rose. “This was the most magical of evenings. Olivia and Chloe had come to see Grease in London and we had dinner together afterwards. I was so excited and in awe, she was my childhood. I now start my own battle with this disease and am left feeling deeply moved.“ She writes.
Ms. Womack represented the United Kingdom in 1991 under her maiden name, Samantha Janus with the song “A Message to your Heart”. Since coming in tenth at the contest in Rome, she has had a busy career as an actress. She briefly played Sandy on the West End version of Grease which led her to meet Olivia Newton-John and on television with the BBC’s soap opera EastEnders as Ronnie Mitchell and in Kingsman: Secret Service as Eggsy’s mum.
