According to Ukranian news outlet Suspline, the Ukranian Government has granted its Eurovision 2022 participants permission to leave the country and compete in the contest in May.

Kalush Orchestra have been given permission by the government to leave Ukraine to promote their entry for the 2022 Eurovision Song Contest in Turin, after rumours that they may have had to use the Vidbir recording as their competing entry. The band made a statement at one of their concerts in Lviv:

“Until recently, Ukraine’s participation in Eurovision was in question, but now we can definitely announce that KALUSH ORCHESTRA is going to Turin and will perform live at Eurovision”

For the first time since the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Kalush Orchestra have met in Lviv for some promotional concerts and are now actively preparing for the contest in Turin. They have said that during the promotional concerts they are aiming to raise funds to aid the reconstruction of the Ukranian cities that have been destroyed by war.

Kalush Orchestra frontman Oleg Psyuk confirmed the news in a statement:

"Through our speeches, we want to raise funds for the reconstruction of Ukrainian cities affected by the war. Many mass events dedicated to Eurovision are taking place now."
