Luxembourg Song Contest to return next year as Eurovision 2026 participation is confirmed.
Luxembourg is the latest country to confirm their participation for Eurovision 2026. This will mark the third participation in a row for Luxembourg since they returned to the contest in 2024.
Alongside the confirmation of Eurovision 2026 participation, the broadcaster has also confirmed that their national final, The Luxembourg Song Contest, will also be returning for a third year.
Further details regarding The Luxembourg Song Contest 2026, including how to apply, the rules and regulations, and the dates of the contest, will be revealed by the broadcaster in the coming weeks.
Luxembourg made their Eurovision debut at the very first contest in 1956, and participated every year up until 1993. During this time, they won the contest five times (1961, 1965, 1872, 1973, 1983), and achieved a further 15 top 10 finishes. In 1994, Luxembourg withdrew from the contest, and did not return until 2024.
Upon their return in 2024, Luxembourg achieved their best result since 1986, when Tali finished top 5 in semi final one and 13th place overall in the final with 117 points with the song “Fighter”. Laura Thorn started off a qualification streak for Luxembourg this year, and eventually finished in 22nd place in the final with “La poupée monte le son“.
Alongside Luxembourg, 13 additional countries have confirmed their participation for Eurovision 2026, whilst just one country at the present time, Andorra, has confirmed they will not be participating.

The Belgian and Slovenian broadcasters, VRT and RTVSLO respectively, have both mentioned that they will reconsider their participation in the contest if the EBU does not review the current voting system in Eurovision, or does not respond adequately to concerns surrounding the “transparency of the vote”.
Bosnia and Herzegovina, North Macedonia and Slovakia, who last participated in 2016, 2022 and 2012 respectively, have said they would like to return to the contest, as long as they can sort out their finances and budget for Eurovision.
