The Eurovision Song Contest 2023 wracks up three BAFTA 2024 nominations.
Last years Eurovision Song Contest in Liverpool, produced by the BBC (in collaboration with Ukrainian broadcaster UA:PBC) has been nominated for a 2024 BAFTA Television award alongside The Corronation Concert and The Royal British Legion Festival of Remembrance.
But that’s not all! The Eurovision Song Contest 2023 has also been nominated for two further awards in the BAFTA Television Craft Awards 2024. The 2023 contest is nominated in the ‘Entertainment Craft Team’ alongside Squid Game: The Challenge, Banged Up and The Coronation Concert. Julio Himede, Tim Routledge, Kojo Samuel, Michael Sharp and Dan Shipton are all nominated in this category.
The third and final nomination for Eurovision 2023 comes from the ‘Director (Multi-Camera)’ category in the BAFTA Television Craft Awards 2024, in which Eurovision 2023 directors Nikki Parsons, Ollie Bartlett, and Richard Valentine are nominated.
In addition to these nominations for the contest, we also see Hannah Waddingham and Graham Norton, being nominated for ‘Best Entertainment Performance’ for their roles as hosts of Eurovision 2023 (alongside Alesha Dixon and Julia Sanina). Hannah also picks up another nomination for ‘Best Entertainment Programme’ with her Apple TV show Hannah Waddingham: Home For Christmas”, whilst Graham’s talk show The Graham Norton Show is nominated for ‘Best Comedy Entertainment Programme’.
With all of these nominations, The Eurovision Song Contest 2023 is in the top 10 programmes with the most nominations at this years BAFTAS.
The BAFTA Television Craft Awards will take place on Sunday 28th April 2024 at The Brewery in London. The BAFTA Television Awards, hosted by Rob Beckett and Romesh Ranganathan, will be held on Sunday 12th May at the Royal Festival Hall in London. The shows will be available to watch on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
