For Eurovision Song Contest 2021, Rotterdam Partners is collaborating with the municipality and presenting, “Rotterdam. #SWINGALONG.” The international campaign is aiming to bring together as many people as possible digitally and safely, with an infectious dance and feel-good video clip.  This will let fans of the Eurovision Song Contest around the world dance along in the city in an innovative way with the help of a 360-degree view while being projected life-size on the World Port Building. Despite all the travels restrictions countries are facing, this gives the whole world a chance dance along via social media and experience the city at the same time.

The campaign started on April 13 and will run until June 6. It will be distributed via Instagram, YouTube, Facebook and TikTok, with the hashtag, “#SWINGALONG.”

The Eurovision Song Contest will take place in Rotterdam on 18, 20 and 22 May. Due to Covid, it will be a different celebration than usual, which is all the more reason to show that a worldwide connection with the city is still possible. The #SWINGALONG video clip is central to this. In it, well-known and unknown Rotterdammers perform a catchy dance at various Rotterdam locations as backdrops; the Rotterdam metro, the Floating Farm, and the circular incubator BlueCity. This gives the video a distinctive Rotterdam look. With the distinct outfits and decorations, the clip also conveys a Eurovision feel.

The video invites fans to participate in the dance challenge and share their own #SWINGALONG version via various social media platforms. Using a special filter for Instagram and Facebook, fans can dance at the Rotterdam locations from the video clip using a 360-degree view.

In the week surrounding the Eurovision Song Contest, a selection of dancing people will be projected life-size at a Rotterdam location with an iconic view over the Maas: The World Port Center. This projection will then be streamed via the campaign website, so that people all over the world can see themselves dancing “in” Rotterdam and in turn can share it themselves.
