Song submissions have officially opened for Söngvakeppnin 2024.

Icelandic broadcaster RÚV have confirmed that song submissions are now open for next years edition of Söngvakeppnin, and will remain open until September 10th. All songs should be sent to songvakeppnin.is.

All singers and songwriters have the opportunity to submit songs for Söngvakeppnin 2024. Once the submissions window is closed, a selection committee made up of representatives of FTT, FÍH and RÚV will give feedback on all the songs, and will select ten songs to compete in the competition.

RÚV have also confirmed that experienced, popular and well known songwriters could also be approached to submit songs for Söngvakeppnin 2024, and encourages songwriters and lyricists in Iceland to submit songs to help continue shaping Iceland’s musical history.

The ten songs and acts that will be competing in Söngvakeppnin 2024 will be announced by the Icelandic broadcaster in January 2024. In keeping with previous years, the show will most likely take place in February 2024, with the exact dates to be confirmed at a later date.

Diljá is the most recent winner of Söngvakeppnin, winning this years edition with her song “Power”. She went on to perform in semi final 2 on May 11th at the M&S Bank Arena in Liverpool, finishing in 11th place with 44 points.
