A couple of months after the Grand Final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2021, some rumors were advanced about a possible request by the Cyprus delegation to the EBU/EBU for Elena Tsagrinou to open the event’s Grand Final line-up in Rotterdam. After the information was recently provided by the Wiwibloggs website, Sietse Bakker, producer of the Eurovision Song Contest 2021 and a member of the event’s Reference Group, dismissed the rumors, adding that no delegation made any requests about the alignment, as in previous years , was in charge of the event’s producers.
The running order is made by the Host Broadcaster and then approved by the EBU. The Participating Broadcasters have no influence on it, even if they would ask. I was in the room when it was decided, any (if any) preference of any delegation did not play a role in that meeting.— Sietse Bakker (@SietseBakker) July 21, 2021
