Benidorm Fest 2024 will take place between January 30th and February 3rd.

It has been confirmed that next years edition of Benidorm Fest will be comprised of two semi finals on Tuesday 30th January and Thursday 1st February, and one grand final on Saturday 3rd February.

The news regarding the dates and the format of Benidorm Fest 2024 was revealed during a press conference in Alicante by the show’s co-directors Ana María Bordas and César Vallejo.

The sixteen artists that will be competing in Benidorm Fest 2024 will be revealed on Saturday 11th November at a corporate event as part of the Latin Grammy’s that will be taking place in Seville.

It has also been revealed that there will be a songwriting camp in September, with its aim to encourage musicians, record labels and interested artists to come together and write songs with the intention of going to Benidorm Fest.

Ahead of the songwriting camp, Eva Bordas has already noticed interest from record companies across Spain: “We notice that the record companies are showing a lot of interest in presenting the artists, some of them have even set up specific teams to bring people to the Benidorm Fest. It must be appreciated that in two years, a brand and a festival have been created that are helping and promoting the music industry.”

Benidorm Fest goes professional

As Beniform Fest is picking up in popularity across Spain, RTVE’s goal is to make it “more professional”, as Eva Bordas explains: We want to professionalize the Benidorm Fest to the maximum. It is a team effort, with many of the RTVE departments involved: production, content, communication, the presidency… They are all pieces of a gear that must work perfectly. We feel the responsibility, because the Benidorm Fest is a great RTVE event that also affects the music industry.”

Benidorm Fest is based on Festival Español de la Canción de Benidorm that began in 1958, and ran intermittently until 2006. It was brought back in 2022 to act as Spain’s national final for Eurovision.

Benidorm Fest 2022 winner Chanel and her song “SloMo” ended Spain’s bottom 5 drought when she achieved the country’s first Eurovision top 3 finish since 1984, first top 5 five finish since 1991, and highest ever score with 459 points. Blanca Paloma didn’t quite have the same success with “EAEA” in 2023, as she finished in 17th place with 100 points.

Benidorm Fest 2024 will be available to watch on LA1 and RTVE. Will you be tuning in? Which acts would you like to see participating? Let us know in the comments below!
