Junior Eurovision 2018 winner Roksana “Roxie” Węgiel has ruled out a participation in Eurovision 2022, as reported by Eurowizja. The Polish singer who rose to fame after winning The Voice Kids and Junior Eurovision in 2018, has mentioned that at the present time, a Eurovision participation is not on the cards for her, but that she does not rule it out in the future.
“I am not ready for adult Eurovision, I will not hide, I don’t feel it now. At this time, so soon, the idea falls out. Although, who knows, maybe in the future? Really, if I decided to participate in the adult Eurovision, I would have to apply with a very good number.”
However, this is not the first time that Roksana has been approached for Eurovision. The singer, who turned 16 years old this year, was approached by Polish broadcaster TVP for this years contest in Rotterdam, but declined their offer.
When asked what style of song she would like to sing, if she were to go to Eurovision, Roksana responded with a ballad. She would like a modern sounding ballad that shows off her vocal ability.
Roksana Węgiel brought Poland their first Junior Eurovision victory in 2018 with “Anyone I Want To Be”. After singing with Universal Music Polska in 2018, she has gone on to release a handful of singles, and a top 3 self-titled album in 2019. She went on to win the MTV Europe Music Award for Best Polish act in 2019.
Roksana co-hosted Eurovision 2019 in Gliwice-Silesia, alongside Ida Nowakowska and Aleksander Sikora. In 2020, she performed “Arcade” at Junior Eurovision in Warsaw with 2019 winner Viki Gabor and Duncan Laurence.
